INTRODUCTION
With effect from 15 December 2026, International Standard on Sustainability Assurance (ISSA) 5000, General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements (ISSA 5000) will serve as an overarching standard that addresses assurance engagements on sustainability information, including greenhouse gas information reported by entities of all sizes and complexity. Participants of this training will gain an understanding of how to meet the requirements of ISSA 5000 across the end-to-end process of sustainability assurance engagement from acceptance to issuance of assurance report.
Course Objectives
By the end of the training, participants will be able:
• To understand the key concepts and definitions introduced in ISSA 5000;
• To develop appropriate assurance procedures and methodologies to meet ISSA 5000 requirements;
• To identify and assess potential risks of misstatements in sustainability information; and
• To effectively conduct or supervise both limited and reasonable sustainability assurance engagements in accordance with ISSA 5000
Mr. Wayne is a certified sustainability and assurance professional with deep expertise in ESG and greenhouse gas (GHG) management. He has led ESG assurance engagements, conducted readiness assessments, and facilitated client workshops. As a Certified ISO 14064 Greenhouse Gas Lead Verifier, with strong exposure to Science Based Targets (SBTi) and GHG inventory building, he brings both technical and practical insights. Holding ISCA Sustainability Assurance and Professional Certifications, along with a Certificate of Advanced Leadership, Mr. Wayne has also gained industry experience with Turnkey Group, supporting ESG data and GHG inventories, backed by his academic foundation in chemical engineering and environmental sustainability.
Ms. Amanda Chiam brings over 5 years of experience in financial and internal audits, having led engagements for multinational companies across the shipping, manufacturing, and engineering sectors. With strong expertise in risk-based auditing, governance, and regulatory compliance, she has transitioned her skills into ESG and sustainability, holding key certifications including ISCA Sustainability Assurance Professional, GARP’s Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR®), GRI Sustainability Professional, and ISO 14064 Greenhouse Gas Lead Verifier. Amanda has conducted ESG external assurance, readiness assessments, and delivered workshops to address reporting and compliance gaps. Proficient in data analytics tools such as IDEA and Excel, she is well-versed in IFRS Sustainability Disclosure, GRI, TCFD, and ISO frameworks — equipping her to bridge both financial and sustainability reporting with confidence.
Upon successful completion of the training, participants will be conferred the KiwaCert x Exemplar Global Certificate, a credential recognised internationally for its professional credibility and assurance of competence.
Upon successful completion of the training and passing the examination, participants will be awarded the Exemplar Global Certificate, an internationally recognised credential that affirms their competence and professional achievement.
